Jerry Hunter is a professor in Bangor University’s Department of Welsh and Celtic Studies and a visiting professor in Harvard University’s Department of Celtic Languages and Literatures during this academic year. While he has published on Welsh literature from all periods, the majority of his researched focusses on the early modern period. His sixth monograph will be published later this year. Jerry has also published six Welsh novels (one of them translated by Patrick K. Ford and published in English as Dark Territory) and one short novel for children (which he himself translated for English publication as The Cloud Horses). He has won the National Eisteddfod’s Prose Medal and the Welsh Book of the Year Award. A frequent presence in the Welsh-language media, Jerry has written and presented three documentary series for S4C, one of which was awarded a BATFA (Cymru) award for contributions to the study of Welsh history. He co-presents a popular podcast about the history of Welsh literature, Yr Hen Iaith,  which won the silver prize in the 2023 British Podcast Awards.
